Thong Nai Pan (TNP) undoubtedly has the most beautiful beaches on the island, coupled with the stunning backdrop of tropical forest. Until recently it was only known to back packers, but it now has two 5 star hotels and several beach bars and restaurants to choose from. The terrain provides excellent hiking and walks, the most impressive being the waterfalls that
come down from the hills.
Off-shore there is an abundance of diving, snorkelling, fishing and even kite surfing available. Thong Nai Pan Noi (Noi means small) is the northern-most beach. This gorgeous semi-circular cove is lined with soft white sand, surrounded by rocky, tree-covered headlands and densely forested mountains rising up behind, to create a stunning environment.
The pristine water here is great for swimming, though a stream pouring into the sea at the south makes for better conditions toward the centre and north of the beach. The easily accessible rocky northern hillside provides excellent views down the beach and around to another small beach.

Thong Nai Pan Yai to the south (Yai means large) is the longer of the two beaches and the quietest. The long, gently-curving cove features beautiful, clear blue water, great for swimming or kayaking around the rocky headlands and the sand is soft and smooth - terrific for sunbathing or barefoot strolls. A small, picturesque, fisherman's anchorage lies to the south, so swimming and sunbathing conditions are better toward the centre and north of the beach. Lovely green hills rise steeply on all sides, making the scene all the more lovely and provide some good walking opportunities. There are numerous trails to walk and waterfalls to visit, and Thong Nai Pan Yai also has a decent set of rocks for experienced climbers. This side of the island is still pretty wild, and the surrounding jungle is haven for many exotic tropical creatures. Giant water monitor lizards, "Takuad" in Thai, can sometimes be seen feeding at sunset and small wildcats have even been spotted deep in the trails.
